Raymond A. Guenther,Professor, has been on the faculty of the University of Nebraska at Omaha since 1969. From 1987 to 1993 he was department chair at which time his most important contribution was to secure funding from the Nebraska Research Initiative thus creatiing the UNO Materials Science Research Program

His original training was in experimental cryogenics. In the recent past his main research effort has been directed towards computer modelling of crystals with emphasis on phase transitions and ferroelectric/ antiferroelectric properties. He has also paricipated in a theoretical investigation of neutron scattering from flux lattices and double well potentials. A secondary research activity is in energy alternatives which presently centers on solar energy and earlier was focussed on geothermal energy. He is also interested in a form of mathematics best described as product-integral calculus.
